What we believe

The reason organic food is expensive isn't the food.

It's the markup. A grain bowl that costs us $5 to make sells for $14 down the street — to cover landlord profit, investor returns, and corporate overhead. Nothing about that math has to do with feeding you well.

Nourished replaces the markup with a simple monthly membership. The food, the cooking, the rent, the lights — fully covered, transparently. Members pay the cost. That's the whole model.

i.

Scale the mission, not the margin.

Owner pay capped at 10× the highest-paid line cook. Every dollar above that goes back into lower prices, more locations, and farm partnerships.

ii.

Radical transparency, with everyone.

Every menu price is itemized — food, labor, overhead — visible to members and teams alike. Ask, and we'll show you the spreadsheet.

iii.

Promote from within. Always.

Every general manager is grown inside the company. We open new locations only when someone is ready to lead one. No exceptions.

iv.

Be the best employer in town.

Wages above market. Profit-sharing for line teams. A real path to ownership. We treat the kitchen like a career — wherever we open.

v.

Build a complete food system.

100% certified organic, every ingredient. Direct partnerships with regional farms — fair pricing, with the goal of 70%+ regional sourcing per location by Year 3.

How it pays for itself

Three layers. Each pays for one job.

A traditional restaurant funds everything from a single price markup. We split it into three honest pieces — so each one is auditable, sustainable, and impossible to inflate.

Layer 01 · Membership

Pays for the building.

$100/mo

Rent, utilities, insurance, the team you don't see. 600 members guarantee $60K/month before a single bowl is sold.

Layer 02 · Add-ons

Pays for the kitchen idle.

$1.00–$3.50

Cold-press juice. Sparkling water. Overnight oats. Made in batch when the kitchen is quiet — sold all day. Surplus subsidizes the labor we pay during slower hours.

Layer 03 · The food

Pays for itself.

$2–$5/meal

Every meal carries its own ingredient cost, cook minutes, and overhead share. Priced at exactly that. You see the math on the receipt.

Open the books

Here's a chicken bowl, line by line.

Every member can ask for any line item on any menu. We'll tell you. This is what radical transparency looks like in practice.

Help us open the doors.

We need 300 founders to fund the buildout. Two membership tiers below — your prepaid year covers your meals at-cost and helps fund construction. Or skip the membership and give a tax-deductible founding gift to the Nourished Foundation.

Honest questions, honest answers

Things we'd ask, too.

Yes. Every ingredient is certified organic — produce, grains, dairy, eggs, sauces, oils. Meats are pasture-raised, grass-fed, and certified organic. Salmon is wild-caught (the USDA does not certify wild-caught fish, but we do not serve farmed fish, ever). No exceptions.
Full refund, no questions. Funds are held in escrow at a third-party bank and only released against verified construction milestones. If we don't open by Dec 31, 2027, every dollar comes back.
No. Memberships are prepaid annual subscriptions for a service we will deliver. Donations are gifts to our 501(c)(3) foundation. Nourished stays 100% founder-owned, no outside equity investors, no franchise.
A full year of membership at the standard $100/mo founding rate. We need the working capital to open. The Patron tier ($2,400) is for members who want extras and are willing to underwrite a bigger share. The Founding Donor option is for people who want to help open Nourished without the membership commitment.
A CSA gives you raw produce on a schedule. Nourished prepares the meals — breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks — at any time you walk in or order ahead.
Individual membership ($100/mo) covers two food items + one drink at at-cost pricing per visit. Family membership ($400/mo for 4) covers four food items + two drinks per visit.
